Looks Can Be Very Deceiving

I think the more serious it looks, the less serious it gets. This photograph was taken last year in Maguindanao during a visit of the World Food Program. People gather around famed actress KC Concepcion.

The Teacher's Pet

One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feelings. The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child.

Carl Jung

Last year, I was privileged to be in Casa San Miguel's artist residency program and teach photography to the local children in the community in Zambales. These photographs were taken by my students and are excerpts from the final slideshow showcase last June 2011. Around 20+ kids with ages ranging from 6-12 participated in the Visual Arts program focusing on painting, sculpture and photography. Six of them majored in Photography. This year's festival has evolved as always bringing in Film making into its scene. Make sure to check out what is going on this season.

The City

One of my first ever attempts in picture making. I was a student in the City College of San Francisco back in 2004 and had some film and photography classes. In my black and white photography class, we were asked to shoot at night for an exercise. Obviously I didn't know shit because all I got were blurred images like this. At least I was able to process correctly. Looking at this image again, biases aside, I don't think it's that bad at all. As Henri-Cartier Bresson says "Sharpness is a bourgeois term." This is my cousin and his friend waiting outside a girls' apartment beside SF State U.

And to my dawg Juan even though you are still alive, we all know that you are dead. It's the skull obsession that gave it away.
